I Eat 33,000 Calories a day - Lisa Sellers

I can relate so much with her! I have no doubt in my mind that this would have been me in a few short years if I had decided to do something about it! Food is a very hard addiction, because you can't quite eatting you have to learn to control it.

How does this video affect you?

Have a blessed day!

  2. I'm practically in tears because I have felt/feel the same gamut of emotions as this dear sister. Over the last couple years, I would wake up each morning wondering what I was going to eat. I'd feel so sad thinking I was giving up my life for food.

A few things in the video caught my eye, and I think we should learn from them: the FULL plate of store bought cookies, of course, the soda on the night stand, the white bread, and the complete absence of any fruits or vegetables. Let's not keep cookies in the house (or cake, or candy), especially store bought ones. If we're going to indulge in something like that, at least we should have to labor to make it. Let's trade in that soda for water and swap whole wheat for white. And if we need a snack, fruit and veggies should be our only option.

Perhaps the greatest tragedy of this video is the son who's sent out to get what mom wants. It's time Nick said no.

I'm sharing with my daughter the info about how fat cells can't be lost or expended, only shrunk. I think that is good for her to know so she doesn't end up in my shoes someday. I hope my new habits are the ones she'll repeat as an adult and not the old ones.

  3. I agree with every thing you just said! I have an issue with the water and white bread that I'm working on! lol! I drink diet soda, but really struggle with getting my water in. Also, I LOVE white bread, I'm eatting a low cal white bread, but it would be better if I eat whole wheat. My solution is to eat less bread. Keep up the good work!

  5. Allow me to sing the praises of the Matzos cracker, the unleavened bread waffers that one receives at communion. A whole one is about 7" x 7", has 110 calories, 0 fat, 0 sodium, and no yeast (yeast is bad for your immune system). I use them like an open faced sandwich and usually don't eat the whole thing because they are very filling. An added plus is that they have that nice crunch, which meets my desire to have chips with my sandwich. I love foods that kill two yearnings at once! They save me the eating of extra calories! Those Old Testament dietary guidelines weren't in place to create a stumbling block for the Hebrews; they had very real benefits to health. I'm glad I don't have to live by them, but I'm happy to benefit from their wisdom and practical value!

  6. SO SAD! I am so happy that you made changes and took control before you ended up like that. GOOD FOR YOU!

  7. My heart goes out for the lady in the video. I have struggled with weight since I was very young. I have been dealing with food addiction, when all I can think about is what I am going to eat next. I am very blessed that my cravings never got as bad as this lady. For instance I have never needed a snack in the middle of the night. But I have been working on changing the way I think of food, and finding healthier foods that I love to eat. I hope everyone that struggles with this addiction can find a way to cope, and come out the other end healthy and happy.
